CALGARY, Alta., March 7, 2022 /CNW/ – Mainstreet Equity Corp. (Mainstreet), from Canada real estate leader on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: MEQ), specializing in affordable, quality mid-market apartment buildings in the West Canadaresponded today to the war of Ukraine with the announcement that they will provide housing assistance to refugees from Ukraine. Mainstreet will work alongside community organizations that specialize in refugee resettlement work to ensure they help as many people as possible. The company will also send a shipment of unworn winter coats for adults and children, along with supplies brought in during a company-wide donation drive held over the weekend.

The offer was made this week by Bob Dhillonfounder, chairman and CEO of Mainstreet, following the invasion of Ukraine.

“Just tell me what to do and I’m here for you,” Dhillon said. “For anyone forced to flee their home, the only thing that matters is finding a safe new home. We know that better than anyone because so many of our teammates and families have gone through this experience,” Dhillon said.

“As an immigrant who thrived in Canadaand Western Canada in particular, the Mainstreet team and I feel compelled to give back to our communities. Ukrainian Canadians have contributed so much to Canada – again, Western Canada in particular – and we have a duty to honor this contribution by helping Ukrainians in this time of distress.”

“We strongly believe that this type of assistance ultimately helps both the Ukrainian people in need and the people of Canada enriching our cultural fabric and contributing to our economy over time. Immigration in all its forms is absolutely essential to building the economy of Canada and keep us globally competitive,” said Dhillon.

Details on the arrival of the refugees are still being worked out, but most are expected to come Canada through the Canada-Ukraine Emergency Travel Authorization announced by the Canadian government on March 3, 2022.

Mainstreet is currently coordinating with Refugee Assistance and Ukrainian community organizations to provide this assistance.
