Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal was made on Wednesday, said Bowman, who opened her real estate office in 2009 and has eight agents working for her.
The transaction gives New England Properties a total of 55 offices and more than 1,800 agents operating in four states. Bowman said Candace Adams, managing director of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England, New York & Westchester Properties, approached her about selling the Cheshire business a few years ago.
“I wasn’t ready for this at the time, but I think the time has come for me to do it,” Bowman said. “Our businesses are well suited because we share the same style. Being part of a bigger company gives us a head start, which is better for our customers.
Adams said Bowman’s cabinet had an “excellent reputation”.
“With our core values and deep knowledge of the community, combined with the resources of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, we will further strengthen our position as the leading real estate company in Cheshire and its surrounding communities,” Adams said in a statement.
Bowman said the deal gives realtors in his office better resources to do their jobs.
“Being a small business with character, I didn’t have the resources to do some of the marketing that needed to be done,” she said. “Now we will have access to better tools, better platforms. I wouldn’t have done this with anyone else.
Bowman said that with the sale of her business behind her, she looks forward to what will hopefully be a strong spring sales season.
“Some people think I retired,” Bowman said. ” I did not do it. I will be there working as hard as ever.
