As Simon Thomas, CEO of DOBI Real Estate, says, the decision to embrace the change paved the way for his Birmingham-based company to experience growth and success in 2021.

“I was the guy who was on the point ‘you have to be in the office’,” said Thomas, whose company ranked # 2 among small businesses in the 2021 Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces competition.
“But by using more technology to run our business, we have become much more efficient. We have also become very careful with our finances, which has made us 10 times stronger. “
In addition to embracing the different working styles of his team members, Thomas reports that DOBI also started giving even more to agents in 2021.
“We spent a lot of time with our agents on Zoom calls and virtual happy hours,” Thomas said. “We wanted to give our team more, so we invested in marketing and training and went from 48 agents to 98 agents in nine months. “
The growth of the business is a source of pride for Thomas, but with humility he says that growth is also something he expects given the team he has assembled.
“People come to me and say you’re really growing up, you’re really blowing up, and for me that’s about 1% of where we want to go,” Thomas said. “We want to get massive in Michigan and maybe other states and it’s hard to implement that vision if you don’t have people who care. Come to our office for 10 minutes and you will see that the office is off the hook; everyone is smiling and the energy is amazing.
